Olga Kovářová — The Velvet Revolution as Answered Prayer

For decades, the Latter-day Saints in Czechoslovakia lived in fear, meeting in secret and praying for the freedom to worship. In 1989, the 'Velvet Revolution' resulted in the peaceful collapse of the Communist regime. Olga Kovářová recounted visiting the elderly Church leader Otakar Vojkůvka shortly after the government resigned. She found him in tears of joy, testifying that the sudden and non-violent transition was a miraculous answer to the collective prayers and fasting of the Saints over many years. This event allowed the Church to be formally recognized and for Olga to serve as one of the first missionaries from her country.
