Thomas C. Callister — Answered Prayer for Community Provisions
Contributed by
Bibliography Research
During a period of severe food shortage in the early Fillmore settlement caused by crop failures and environmental challenges, Thomas Callister, acting as the local presiding authority, led the Saints in a collective day of fasting and prayer for relief. Shortly after this event, an unexpected source of provisions became available to the community through a providential trade opportunity and a late-season harvest that had previously been thought lost. This intervention allowed the settlers to survive the winter without the anticipated starvation.
