Newell Knight Beal: A Faithful Latter-day Saint Leader of Emery (1867–1948)

Newell Knight Beal (1867–1948), son of John Alma Beal and Lavina Esth DeMill, was born in Manti, Utah, on 1 April 1867—named for the early Latter-day Saint Newell Knight, a faithful friend of the Prophet Joseph Smith. He served as a High Priest and as President of the Emery Town Board, helping to lead and build up the Emery County Latter-day Saint community. Brother Beal's life is a faith-promoting witness of the second generation of Utah Saints who, raised in the settlements their pioneer parents founded, served faithfully in their local stakes and towns and carried the work of Zion into the next generation.
