Olga Kovářová Campora — Inspired Use of Yoga to Circumvent Communist Bans

During the 1980s in Communist Czechoslovakia, where the Church was banned and religious activity was strictly monitored by the StB (Secret Police), Olga and her mentor Otakar Vojkuvka utilized yoga classes as a 'front' to teach Latter-day Saint principles. They translated gospel concepts into secular, philosophical language to avoid detection. Olga recounts this as an inspired strategy that allowed them to share the gospel with hundreds of seekers and identify those ready for baptism without alerting the authorities to the religious nature of their gatherings. This 'remarkable providence' allowed the Church to function as a 'yoga society' for a decade under intense surveillance.
