During the jubilee celebration of the Hawaiian Mission in 1900, George Q. Cannon, serving in the First Presidency, presided over the festivities. During this event, he prophesied to the Hawaiian Saints that a temple would eventually be built in their islands. This prophecy was considered a remarkable moment of foreknowledge, later fulfilled by the construction and dedication of the Laie Hawaii Temple.
