George Q. Cannon — Deliverance from Train Accident

In 1886, while George Q. Cannon was living 'underground' to avoid arrest by federal marshals during the polygamy prosecutions, he attempted to evade capture by jumping from a moving train near Humboldt Wells, Nevada. Despite the high speed of the train and the dangerous fall, he survived with relatively minor injuries. Although he was eventually captured, he viewed his survival and the subsequent legal proceedings as being overruled by the Lord for the benefit of the Church and his family.
