Prophetic Warning of the Cholera Scourge

During the march in early June 1834, Joseph Smith warned the camp that a 'scourge' would come upon them as a consequence of their internal contentions, fault-finding, and rebelliousness. George A. Smith documented this prophetic warning in his autobiography, noting that Joseph Smith explicitly told the group the Lord was displeased with them. This prophecy was fulfilled shortly thereafter when a severe cholera epidemic broke out among the camp members near Rush Creek, resulting in several deaths and requiring miraculous interventions for survivors.
