Thomas S. Monson — Prophetic Promise to the Czech Saints

In 1985, Elder Thomas S. Monson visited the small, struggling band of Saints in Czechoslovakia. During a meeting held in a private apartment under the threat of police discovery, Elder Monson gave a powerful apostolic blessing and promise to the members. He prophesied that the government would recognize the Church and that the day would come when the work would no longer be done in shadows. At the time, with the Communist regime firmly in power, this seemed impossible. However, the prophecy was fulfilled in February 1990, following the Velvet Revolution, when the Church was officially granted legal recognition by the state.
