An unnamed woman in Hamburg had been possessed of an evil spirit for fourteen years and was kept in a madhouse. Her husband brought her home after she was baptized into the Church. The woman reported that while in her possessed state, she could see and hear people, including the manager and police, from outside the house. After being baptized, the woman remained restored and well. Elder S. (of a Branch of twelve members) recounts that he baptized her three weeks prior to writing the letter.
In Their Own Words
“The man’s wife whom I baptized here, was in the mad house for a long time. She was possessed of an evil spirit for fourteen years. He brought her home after she was baptized. I went to see her; she told me that when the spirit is in her she can see and know every thing far and near. She told me that at one time the manager and the police were outside of the house, saying, that they would have to confine her, and she could see and hear them as well as if she were outside of the house. I baptized her three weeks ago, and she is as well as ever. — Millennial Star 14:29”
