Thomas Rust Thalbourn, a non-member, fell from a load of hay while working and suffered a fractured skull. His doctors held little hope for his recovery. Upon the advice of his wife, who was a member of the Church, Elders L. V. Toolson, A. C. McCombs, and A. Frewin administered to him. Upon receiving the blessing, he felt the pain leave immediately and knew he would recover.
In Their Own Words
“On the 20th June, 1908, I met with a very serious accident, being thrown head first from a load of hay, while at work, which gave me a fractured skull. There was very little hope entertained by the doctors for my recovery. My wife, being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, advised me to be administered to. This was also my own wish as I knew I was in a very bad condition. As soon as Elders L. V. Toolson, A. C. McCombs and A. Frewin placed their hands upon my head I felt the pain leave me; the healing power was so strong that I knew I would get better. For my recovery I am truly thankful to my Heavenly Father, and also to the elders for the kindness they have shown to me.”
