W. A. M.'s daughter's recovery from a critical illness

The author (W. A. M.) recounts his daughter's severe illness a few years prior, during which she was near death. While he and his wife were initially watching her constantly, they were sent home to rest. At 5:00 AM, he received a phone call that she was 'very low' and the end was near. While rushing to her home, he prayed for her life, but experienced a powerful, peaceful change of heart and surrendered to God's will. Following this change, his daughter's life was spared.
The author of this account is identified as William A. Morton, as confirmed by his contributions to the 1922 volume of the Millennial Star.
In Their Own Words
“I have just received a letter from one of my daughters in which she reminds me of the fact that a few years ago she was snatched by the power of God from the brink of the grave and speedily restored to health. I shall never forget the occasion, nor a remarkable experience I had in connection with my daughter's illness. ... I cannot describe the change; I never experienced anything like it before nor since; it will live in my memory forever. I believe it was the same Spirit which rested upon Job in the hour of his great affliction, and which enabled him to say when he lost his loved ones: 'The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away; blessed be the name of the Lord.' My daughter's life was spared; she was snatched like a brand from the burning. To Him who restored her I tender my sincere and heartfelt thanks, my gratitude and praise. — William A.
