After an illness lasting months following nursing a friend, Mollie Higginson was bedridden. Elders administered to her and promised eventual recovery but predicted she would not be well for some time. Later, after a relapse, she was again administered to by the elders. She promised she would be well enough to attend a party in a fortnight. Upon their second visit, she described seeing a light on the elders' faces and feeling strength infuse her body during the administration. She was healed, attended the party, and grew stronger.

In Their Own Words

“I have been a member of the Church for about three years, and during that time I have had many proofs of the power of God. I should like to tell you of a healing I received. I had been nursing a friend who was ill, and I caught the same complaint. I was ill for months, and for a long time I was confined to my bed. The elders came and administered to me, and they told me I would get better, but that I would not be well for some time. I had a relapse, and was very ill again. The elders came to see me, and I told them I was going to a party in a fortnight, and that I would be well enough to go. They smiled, and said they hoped I would. Shortly before the time for them to leave, they came up to me again, to administer to me, and this time I saw what—doubt? Ah, no! Upon their faces I saw a light that had not been there before, I saw they had been to the Great Healer, and had obtained power from Him, and as their hands touched my head I felt the strength I so much needed infusing my body. Those may scoff who like. They may call it hypnotism, magnetism, or any other fine name they please, but I know, and our elders know, that it was none other than the power of God. I went to the party, and I have been getting stronger ever since.”
