A child in Canterbury, whose life was despaired of by the neighbors and the mother (who was not a member of the Church), was anointed and blessed by Elder M. H. Hardy. Shortly after the administration, the child recovered to perfect health.

Fuller account of this event (the complete account as preserved in The Latter-day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 37, No. 16, 19 April 1875, p. 251):

A child in Canterbury, whose life was despaired of by the neighbors and the mother (who was not a member of the Church), was anointed and blessed by Elder M. H. Hardy. Shortly after the administration, the child recovered to perfect health.

In Their Own Words

“I was called to bless a child whose life was despaired of, we anointed it and rebuked the disease—afterward took it in our arms and blessed it. When I shortly returned the child was in perfect health, to the astonishment of the neighbours, and of the mother who was not in the Church. — Millennial Star 37:16”
