An anonymous man who had previously been a Latter-day Saint but strayed away was drawn to an open-air meeting at St. Pancras station after hearing the name of Joseph Smith mentioned. He obtained a tract, returned to the faith, was baptized, and brought his family into the Church.

Fuller account of this event (the complete account as preserved in The Latter-day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 51, No. 33, 19 August 1889, p. 525):

Elder L. A. Kelsch, writing from London, says: 'We have had some very interesting open-air meetings at St. Pancras Station. At one of these meetings a man who had been a member of the Church, but who had strayed away, was passing by, and hearing the name of Joseph Smith mentioned, he stopped, and was so interested that he remained until the close. He obtained a tract, and the result was that he returned to the Church, was baptized, and has since brought his family into the fold.'

In Their Own Words

“We left the ground thinking that our effort to do good had been a complete failure; but in this, as the sequel proved, we were entirely mistaken; for in the crowd of mobocrats by whom we were surrounded there stood at least one man. He had been drawn to us through hearing the name of Joseph Smith mentioned. Many years before he had been numbered with the Lord’s people, but had strayed away for a time from the fold, and when he would have returned he could not find the shepherd nor the sheep, and had come to the conclusion that the Gospel had been withdrawn from this land. This was his frame of mind when he heard the name of our beloved Prophet sounding above the howling of an anti-Mormon mob. He hastily pushed his way forward to an Elder who was handing out Glad Tidings of Great Joy, and eagerly seized one of the tracts. His eyes sparkled with pleasure when he discovered the address of the Saints’ meeting-hall printed at the foot of the pamphlet; and on the following Sabbath he was once again seated with a congregation of Latter-day Saints. Baptism followed, and to-day this man is an earnest follower of the Lord Jesus Christ, faithful in attending his meetings and doing other things required of him to assist in rolling on the great work of God. — Millennial Star 51:33”
