Mary, a young woman in an English factory town, sought guidance on religious questions from her minister but received no help. Later, she discussed religion with a fellow worker named Ivy, who explained the gospel. During a prayerful search for truth, Mary experienced a spiritual manifestation where she felt herself embraced by loving arms and lifted toward a light, dispelling all her doubts and confirming the truth of the gospel.
In Their Own Words
“She had gone home and poured out her heart in supplication and prayer for light. At first, darkness had fallen upon her. and she had a sensation of sinking, as if she had no ground under her feet. But she prayed all the more fervently, and, suddenly, she felt herself, as it were, embraced by loving arms and borne upward towards a light that filled her whole being; all doubts vanished; the gospel appeared to her as a familiar book which she had read in the long ago. She rose from her prayer happy as a child that had found a long-lost jewel of priceless value. — Millennial Star 79:52”
