Private George Grkatorex, a Latter-day Saint soldier serving in France during World War I, reports multiple instances of divine protection over his two years of active service. He recounts surviving being gassed, being buried alive, being wounded with blood poisoning, and rejoining his unit after it had been 'practically wiped out' while he was away, which he attributes to the intervention of the Lord.
In Their Own Words
“Eight months after I landed in France. I was gassed. Last November I was buried alive, and last March I was wounded, and blood poisoning set in, and yet. to-day, I am back again feeling well and strong. I repeat that God has been good, for when anything has happened and I have left the battalion, it has always been for a good purpose. When I rejoined my unit the first time, T found that my battalion had been practically wiped out. This is only one instance of how our heavenly Father is looking after His children on the battlefield. — Millennial Star 80:39”
