Bibliography Research
In 1867, Morgan Richards Sr. was called to leave his established home in Parowan to settle the Muddy River valley (the Muddy Mission), a notoriously harsh environment. The manuscript-sourced history by Mary Richards McInelly records that Richards was initially distressed by the call. However, he received a divine manifestation—described as a vision or inspired dream—that provided him with profound peace and the assurance that the call was the will of God. This spiritual experience enabled him to lead his family into the desert of Nevada and Southern Utah with unwavering faith, despite the extreme privations they subsequently faced.
