Prior to his immigration to America, Thomas Callister experienced a significant dream or spiritual manifestation regarding his future. In this vision, he saw himself traveling to a distant land and eventually returning to his homeland to share a message of great importance. This experience prepared his mind for the arrival of Latter-day Saint missionaries on the Isle of Man. When he heard the gospel preached by John Taylor (his uncle), he recognized it as the fulfillment of his dream and was baptized in 1841.
