While residing in Parowan, Morgan Richards Sr. was known for his spiritual sensitivity and Priesthood service. A manuscript-sourced account in the DUP History Collection describes an incident where Richards was called to the home of a neighbor whose child was near death. The account states that through the laying on of hands and Richards' exercise of faith, the child was immediately healed and restored to health. This event is cited in family records as a primary example of the miraculous power of the Priesthood in the early Parowan settlement.
