Hannah Terry — Vision of the Temple in the Mountains

Before the exodus from Nauvoo and following the death of her husband, Parshall Terry, Hannah Terry received a spiritual manifestation or vision regarding her future. In this vision, she was shown the 'mountains of the West' and was given a divine promise that despite her advanced age and the impending hardships of the pioneer trek, she would live to see the Latter-day Saints established in the mountain valleys and witness the completion of a temple there. This vision served as a source of strength during her journey across the plains and her subsequent call to the 'Cotton Mission' in Southern Utah. She eventually settled in Rockville, Utah, and lived to see the St. George Temple completed and dedicated in 1877, passing away only a few months after the fulfillment of this vision.
