Hyrum Smith's Vision of Mother Smith Praying

Upon returning from the Zion's Camp expedition, Hyrum Smith related to his mother, Lucy Mack Smith, that during the difficult journey—specifically during the time of the cholera outbreak—he had a vision or spiritual impression of his mother praying for him and the other members of the camp. This spiritual manifestation provided him comfort and assurance during the trials of the march.

“Joseph, we shall return, for I have seen an open vision in which I saw Mother on her knees under an apple tree praying for us, and she is even now asking God, in tears, to spare our lives, that she may behold us again in the flesh.
