While engaged in freighting between Panguitch and northern settlements, Martin William Foy Sr. was overtaken by a fierce winter storm that obscured the trail and threatened his life. Realizing he was lost and in danger of freezing, Foy stopped his team and offered a fervent prayer for guidance. He felt a distinct impression to let the horses have their head. Upon releasing the tension on the reins, the team turned and traveled through the deep snow, eventually arriving at a safe cabin. Foy attributed his survival to the Lord's intervention in response to his prayer.
