William Horne Dame — Prophetic Dream of Deliverance in Beaver Jail

In the mid-1870s, William Horne Dame was arrested and imprisoned in Beaver, Utah, in connection with the legal proceedings following the Mountain Meadows Massacre. During this period of intense personal and legal distress, Dame sought comfort through prayer. Mable McBride Tate's biography records that while in his cell, Dame had a vivid and comforting dream or vision. In the dream, he was visited by a messenger who assured him that he was not guilty of the crimes charged against him and that he would eventually be released and his name would be cleared. This spiritual manifestation provided him with the peace necessary to endure his imprisonment. The prophecy in the dream was fulfilled when the charges against him were eventually dismissed in 1877, and he was allowed to return to his home and his duties as Stake President.
