William Horne Dame — Healing from Bilious Fever in Nauvoo

In the early 1840s, shortly after his arrival in Nauvoo, Illinois, William Horne Dame became severely ill with what was then called "bilious fever." His condition worsened until he was considered to be on the brink of death, and his family feared he would not survive. Dame requested that the Elders of the Church be called to administer to him. According to the biography by Mable McBride Tate, as soon as the Elders laid their hands upon his head and rebuked the disease through the power of the Priesthood, Dame felt a miraculous sensation of warmth spreading through his limbs. The fever left him immediately. To the astonishment of those present, he was able to get out of bed and partake of a full meal, having been completely restored to health.
