Sally Penn Barton — Answered Prayer for Water on the Trail

In 1852, while traveling to Southern Utah as part of the pioneer migration, Sally Penn Barton's company faced a critical shortage of water in a desert stretch. The livestock were suffering, and the children were in distress. Sally, known for her deep spiritual conviction, gathered a group of women to pray specifically for the discovery of water. Shortly after their prayer, Sally felt prompted to look toward a specific ravine that the scouts had previously passed. Upon investigation, the company found a hidden spring of fresh water that provided enough for the entire camp and their animals. This event was recorded by her descendants as a foundational miracle of their family's journey to the Cotton Mission area.
