Marinda Allen Bateman: A Pioneer Woman's Faithful Life in Plural Marriage (1838–1919)

Marinda Allen Bateman (21 June 1838 – 18 March 1919) was a Latter-day Saint pioneer woman whose life has been studied as 'An Example of Life in Polygamy in Utah.' She first met her husband in 1853 as he ferried her across a river on the westward journey, and she went on to live the principle of plural marriage with faithful endurance in the hard early years of the Utah settlement. Sister Bateman, buried at West Jordan, is a faith-promoting witness of the pioneer women who, at great personal cost, lived the principles the Lord had revealed through His prophets and helped establish the Saints in the valleys of the mountains.
