Orson B. Adams: Original 1847 Pioneer, Seventy, and Founder of Parowan and Harrisburg

Orson Bennett Adams was a New York-born Latter-day Saint who was listed among the original 1847 pioneer company that blazed the trail to the Salt Lake Valley. A thirty-five-year-old Seventy, he helped establish the new settlement in the Salt Lake Valley before being sent south to help found the settlements of Parowan and Harrisburg, where he and his wife Susann passed the remainder of their lives. He was called upon to drive emigrant companies through the southern Utah settlements—a record notes that 'Orson B. Adams then drove them thirty miles to Beaver.' His life is a witness of faithful pioneer service on the southern Utah frontier.
