On October 14, 1861, Margaret Archibald Hendry received a patriarchal blessing from F. C. Robinson, Patriarch at Wellsville, Cache County, Utah. The blessing declared that she was 'a daughter of Abraham' and promised her numerous spiritual gifts and divine protection. It stated: 'Sister Margaret in the name of Jesus, I lay my hands on your head and I seal upon you the blessings of a Patriarch...Thou shalt not want for bread in the day of famine, nor for fellowship in the midst of they brethren...I bless you in your mechanical gift, in decorating your garments with your own hands, thy economy may be a blessing to the rising generations.' The blessing assured her of faith, trials that would sanctify her heart, and blessings of the promised seed, with her name written in the Lamb's book of life. This formal priesthood blessing was a powerful spiritual experience and divine confirmation of her worth and purpose.
