During the early days in Salt Lake Valley, when the Saints were threatened with the coming of Johnston's army, Isaac Leany, who had inherited the gift of dreams from his patriarchal blessing, received another divinely-inspired vision. In the dream, he saw a large serpent, coiled and menacing, hovering over the valley of Salt Lake. This dream symbolically warned of the coming threat. The fulfillment of this dream was seen in Johnston's army, which indeed became a menace to the city of Salt Lake until the outbreak of the Civil War in 1861 diverted military attention. This second confirming dream validated Isaac's gift and demonstrated that the Lord continued to warn His servants through prophetic dreams during critical times of the Church's history.
