Lewis Barney and his father Charles were both afflicted with chills and fever while traveling in 1826. Though they were scarcely able to drive their teams while in this serious condition, they were gradually healed. The fever subsided and their strength returned so that they could continue their journey and complete their mission to retrieve the rest of their family from Ohio. The Lord preserved their lives through this illness and enabled them to fulfill their purpose.
