Mysterious Object Appears on Prairie - Divine Warning

While camping on the Illinois prairie near Lynn Grove, Lewis Barney and his father witnessed a frightening incident with their horses. A strange horse appeared, causing their horses to panic and break loose. More mysteriously, they discovered an unidentifiable object on the ground about 3-4 rods from the wagon. When the horses glimpsed it, they became extremely uneasy, snorting and refusing to settle. The object 'rolled off and disappeared in the dark, as a cloud at that time came over the moon.' This unusual manifestation may have been a warning or protective sign.
