The Miraculous Unity and Worship at Jacksonville

On June 1, 1834, Frederick G. Williams participated in a Sunday worship service in Jacksonville, Illinois, where approximately 250 local citizens joined the camp. The event was marked by an extraordinary and improbable show of unity among various Christian denominations who sang, prayed, and partook of the sacrament together. Williams' descendants and camp journals describe this as 'the most unusual of the entire journey,' noting the divine influence that allowed for such harmony between the Saints and the local populace during a time of high tension.
