Zurviah G. Eardley, while living in New York as a child, suffered from a severe pain in her stomach which was aggravated by walking long distances to work. One night, after a particularly weary day, she had a dream in which Wilford Woodruff, who had previously visited her family as a traveling elder, came to her and administered to her by the laying on of hands. He rebuked the pain, and she was healed permanently.
Fuller account of this event (the complete account as preserved in The Young Woman's Journal, vol. 33, no. 11 (November 1922), p. 615):
When a child in New York, I suffered from a severe pain in my stomach, which was aggravated by walking long distances to my work. One night, after a particularly weary day, I had a dream in which Wilford Woodruff, who had previously visited our family as a traveling elder, came to me and administered to me by the laying on of hands. He rebuked the pain, and I was healed permanently.
In Their Own Words
“She relates a remarkable experience at this time in her life of being healed in a dream. She had been suffering from a sever pain in her stomach, and walking a long distance to work seemed to aggravate the trouble. She often had to sit down on her way to get strength to go on. One day she had been unusually troubled and returned home at night very weary. She went to bed at once and in a dream that night Brother Wilford Woodruff—then known to her as a traveling elder who had often visited the home of her parents—came and laid his hands upon her and rebuked the pain that had so troubled her. She says that from that time she has never felt it again. — The Young Woman's Journal 33:11”
