An unnamed widow, living in poverty and hardship, was struggling with a husband drinking and no food in the house. While returning with a bag of biscuits and four chops, a voice instructed her not to eat any of them. Following this instruction, she reached home and discovered the necessity of the food because her husband had spent all the money on drink.
In Their Own Words
“I came back from a visit to this daughter who lies here, with a bag full of biscuits and four chops of meat. On the way I wanted to eat one, but a voice said to me, “Do not eat even one, or a chop, either; you can get along without it.” So I did not, and when I reached home there he was drinking, and not a thing in the house. Then I knew why I was not to eat even a single biscuit. A Providence has always been over me. — The Young Woman's Journal 12:10”
