An Elder was with a family during a cyclone. Sensing through the Spirit of God that they would be protected, he instructed them not to leave the house, promising in the name of Jesus that they would be safe if they remained inside, which they were.

Fuller account of this event (the complete account as preserved in The Latter-day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 60, No. 14 (7 April 1898), p. 218):

A cyclone was approaching, and the family were much alarmed. The Elder told them not to leave the house, and promised them in the name of Jesus that they would be safe if they remained inside. They did so, and were preserved, while the house was uninjured, though the storm was very destructive all around them.

In Their Own Words

“We should also have the gift of propheoy, like the Elder who has been alluded to here, who said to a family who were in danger from a cyclone, Dont leave the house; I promise you in the name of Jesus that you will be safe if you will stay in the house.” What prompted him to say that? The Spirit of God. The spirit of prophecy rested upon him, just as it did upon Paul when he was on board the ship and he said that not a soul should be lost. — Millennial Star 60:14”
