An elder, having left his wife and three children (including twin infants) about eight months prior, was encouraged by his wife to labor in the vineyard. Since leaving, he has been instrumental in bringing nearly 300 people to the gospel.

Fuller account of this event (the complete account as preserved in Latter Day Saints' Messenger and Advocate, June 1837 (Vol. 3, No. 9), page 521):

An elder, who has been absent from his family about eight months, having left a wife and three children, (two of whom were twins, and infants at the time of his departure,) has been instrumental in the hands of God, in bringing nearly three hundred souls into the kingdom, since he left his home. His wife, in a letter to him, says, 'Go on, my dear husband, and labor in the vineyard of the Lord; I can take care of the children.'

In Their Own Words

“Another of these men, about 8 months ago, left a wife and three children, two of which were twins and only six weeks old, and the other only 20 months. His wife felt so much about the importance of the work, that she urged him to go and labor in the vineyard of the Lord. He did so. And has since been the means in the hands of the Lord of bringing near 300 to the glorious liberty of the gospel. — Latter Day Saints' Messenger and Advocate 3:9”
