After being baptized on December 11, 1907, A. T. Cushion was troubled by negative stories he had heard about the 'Mormons.' He prayed to the Lord for a manifestation to know if he had done right. Immediately following his prayer, he was filled with the Spirit of the Lord. He then had a dream/vision of the world ending and entering heaven. Upon waking, his room was filled with a blaze of light and he perceived the same vision before his eyes, confirming his decision to be baptized.
In Their Own Words
“I knew the only way to get a real knowledge as to whether they had the truth or not was through prayer, so the evening of the day of my baptism I prayed earnestly to the Lord to reveal to me whether or not I had done right by uniting myself to this band of so-called "Mormons." Never shall I forget it, because just as soon as I had prayed I was filled with the Spirit of God. All doubt was swept from my mind. 1 was unable to sleep for some time because I was so overflowed with the Spirit of the Lord, but early in the morning I fell asleep. I then had a vision. At first it was a dream, and in that dream I saw the world come to an end and I entered heaven. It would take too long to describe all of it here; but when I awoke from that dream my little room was in a blaze of light and the whole world was before my eyes just exactly as I had seen it ill the dream. Although my room was so illuminated, I could not see anything because the vision was before my eyes. 1 could not understand what this meant. Suddenly it flashed into my mind that the night before I had been baptized, and it was given me as a testimony of the gospel. — Millennial Star 76:43”
