Sisters L. B. Young and Lucy Gates's Gift of Tongues and Interpretation in Dresden

During a priesthood meeting in Dresden, Sisters L. B. Young and Lucy Gates spoke. After speaking for about ten minutes, Sister Gates received the gift of tongues, continuing for about twenty minutes, followed by an interpretation that provided a blessing upon all the Elders present. The attendees were moved to tears, and the meeting lasted seven and a half hours.

Fuller account of this event (as retold in The Latter-day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 62, No. 16 (April 19, 1900), p. 251):

On Sunday, March 25, we held a priesthood meeting, at which Sisters L. B. Young and Lucy Gates were present. After the latter had talked about ten minutes she received the gift of tongues and continued for about twenty minutes, after which the interpretation was given. The interpretation was a blessing upon all the Elders. The Spirit of God fell in such a rich measure upon the assembled ones that there was scarcely a dry eye to be seen. President Bailey, who was present, said he had never witnessed such a manifestation of the power of God in all his experience in the mission field.
