Rei Hamon, a Latter-day Saint from New Zealand, suffered a disabling accident that left him unable to continue his previous work. While sitting in his kitchen, feeling discouraged and wondering about his future, he experienced a moment of spiritual reflection regarding his faith and his identity as a high priest. He felt that through the power of the priesthood and his own faith, he would be restored to health. This period of reflection and recovery led him to discover his daughter's notebook and pen, which prompted him to begin drawing, eventually leading to his career as a renowned landscape artist.
In Their Own Words
“As he sat in the kitchen wondering what work he could do, he noticed his daughter's notebook and a pen resting on a chair. ... of the priesthood and hers, I'd become well again. I felt like a guilty — Rei Hamon, Church News”
