Maxine Grimm was instrumental in the early efforts to establish The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Philippines. On April 28, 1961, she participated in a meeting with Elder Gordon B. Hinckley, a small group of service members, and one native Filipino member in the outskirts of Manila. During this meeting, they bore testimony and invoked the blessings of heaven to open the nation for missionary work, an event described by President Hinckley as the 'commencement of a miracle.'
In Their Own Words
“That was the beginning of something marvelous, the commencement of a miracle. The rest is history, discouraging at times and glorious at others. — Gordon B. Hinckley, as quoted in Church News”
