In Saarbrucken, a woman whose husband threatened to cut her throat and throw her into the river if she was baptized, proceeded with her baptism regardless. She remained unharmed, and her husband later sought to follow in her steps toward baptism.

Fuller account of this event (the complete account as preserved in The Latter-day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 63, No. 13, 28 March 1901, p. 203):

In Saarbrucken a sister was threatened by her husband that if she were baptized he would cut her throat and throw her into the river. She was baptized, however, and remained unharmed, and her husband has since expressed a desire to follow her example.

In Their Own Words

“One man at Saarbrucken, whose wife desired baptism, threatened in his rage to cut her throat and throw her into the river if she embraced our doctrines. She was baptized, nevertheless, still lives, and her husband is about to follow in her steps. — Millennial Star 63:13”
