The mother of W.A.M. prophesied that her brother George, who had falsely accused her sister of using a counterfeit coin in his store, would become a pauper and die in the poor-house as a sign that the accusation was false. Years later, George's business failed and he died in the poor-house, as prophesied.
In Their Own Words
“‘Behold, you shall come to poverty, aye, even so poor that you shall be obliged to go into the poor-house, and you shall finally die there. Therefore when you find yourself a pauper, and an inmate of the workhouse, you may look back upon this day, and know that the charge which you have made against us today is false.’ And indeed so it happened. A few years later my uncle’s wife died; his business failed, and at last he was reduced to poverty. Sooner than accept assistance from any of his relatives, he went into the poor-house, and died there, according to my mother’s prophecy. — The Young Woman's Journal 6:5”
