During the October 1849 conference in Great Salt Lake City, Elder Parley P. Pratt recounted a miraculous case of healing a woman who was near her death that he had witnessed earlier in his ministry.
Fuller account of this event (in the witness’s own words):
Elder Parley P. Pratt related his experience at the commencement of the work, and the time when the prophet, Joseph Smith, stood up in the midst of the congregation, and by revelation pointed out each individual to be ordained to the Melchisedec priesthood; and also related a miraculous case of healing a woman who was near her death. He said, 'I was called to visit a woman who was sick, and near unto death. I went to the house, and found her in the last stages of consumption. She was so far gone that she could not speak, and was unable to move. I laid my hands upon her, and prayed for her, and she was healed from that hour, and arose and walked about the house, and was perfectly restored to health.'
