Moses Martin Helps Cast Evil Spirits Out of Several Possessed Saints at the Warwickshire Conference (1847)

During the Warwickshire Conference held in Leamington Spa, several members of the Church were possessed by evil spirits. Elder Moses Martin, during his visit, gave instructions on the subject and helped the local Saints to discern these powers. Through the authority of the priesthood and in the name of Jesus Christ, the afflicted individuals were set free from these spirits.
Fuller account of this event (in the witness’s own words):
We feel thankful to our heavenly Father, that Elder Moses Martin came to pay us a visit, as the instructions we received from him refreshed us, and by his counsel and assistance we were enabled to discern the powers of darkness which had taken possession of several Saints, during the last months. But by the power of the holy priesthood, in the name of Jesus, they have been set free from their power, and can glorify the God of our salvation. We have had a good time, and the Saints are rejoicing in the truth, and are determined to go forward in the work of the Lord. We have baptized several since Elder Martin left us, and the prospects are good for more. We remain your brethren in the new and everlasting covenant, Thomas Smith, John Freeman.
