Mary Mason, age 73, was afraid of the water due to a near-drowning experience years earlier. After being invited to be baptized by Elder Sumner Hatch, she struggled with the fear. She knelt in prayer, asking the Lord to take away her fear if it were right for her to be baptized. The fear was immediately removed, and she was later healed through the administration of the elders.
In Their Own Words
“I knelt down in humble prayer, and asked God, if it was right at my age to be baptized, to take away all fear. My prayer was answered immediately. When I arose, all fear had left me. I went to the baptismal service, and entered the waters of baptism as calm as a summer's morning. ... I, myself, have enjoyed the blessing of healing through the administration of the elders. — Millennial Star 78:24”
