Sister Mary Jones of Birkenhead had been suffering from a severe attack of lumbago for two weeks, leaving her unable to move or lift anything. Elder Edwin C. Davies called on her, and while he was administering to her, the pain immediately left, allowing her to stand and move with ease.
In Their Own Words
“About three months ago I was suffering from a bad attack of lumbago, which had afflicted me for nearly a fortnight. The pain was so intense that I was unable to move from one chair to another without assistance, and I could not lift the slightest weight. Those who have suffered from this complaint know what a painful thing it is. Quite unexpectedly one afternoon Elder Edwin C. Davies, one of the elders laboring in Birkenhead, called to see how I was. He found me in great pain. I asked him to administer to me, which he did, and while he was praying to the Lord to heal me, immediately the pain left my back and I was able to get up off the chair with ease, and could walk about and lift any reasonable weight, feeling nothing but a slight weakness. I am thankful to the Lord for this manifestation of His power, and I know that the Gospel is true and that the gifts of the Spirit follow those who believe.”
