Kaulainamoku, a native of the Sandwich Islands who joined the Church in 1853, experienced a miraculous healing after being bedridden with sickness shortly after his conversion. He later moved to Salt Lake City to live among the Saints.
Fuller account of this event (as retold in The Latter-day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 37, No. 21, May 24, 1875):
Kaulainamoku, a native of the Sandwich Islands, who joined the Church in 1853, was a man of great faith. A short time after his entrance into the Church, he was laid on a bed of sickness, and to all appearance was near his end. He was so reduced that he could not turn himself in his bed. Elders George Q. Cannon and F. A. Mitchell visited him, and administered to him by the laying on of hands. He was immediately healed, and arose from his bed, and walked about, and was soon as well as ever. He afterwards gathered with the Saints to Salt Lake City, where he lived for some years, and died in the faith.
In Their Own Words
