On October 18, 1850, while sailing from Liverpool to New Orleans, the company of Saints on the ship 'Joseph Badger' faced strong headwinds and seasickness. In the evening, the entire company united in earnest prayer to God for a favorable wind. The issue reports that God heard their prayer, and within that same hour, the wind changed to the north, allowing them to proceed comfortably through the night.
In Their Own Words
“At eight o’clock in the evening an earnest prayer was sent to God, by everyone unanimously, for a fair wind; God heard our prayer, and that same hour the wind changed to the north, and we went comfortably through the night. — Udgorn Seion (Zion's Trumpet), December 1850 (English translation by Ronald D. Dennis)”
