A thirteen-year-old girl in Ebbw Vale, England, had been suffering from fits and spasms for three or four days following a frightening experience, requiring several people to hold her down. Elder Richard Palmer and other Elders administered to her by laying on hands and rebuking the destroyer. The next morning, the girl was fully recovered and joined the Elders, appearing happy and healthy.

In Their Own Words

“EBBW VALE.—Elder Richard Palmer writes: 'I wish to report a case of healing which occurred in this branch. A girl, thirteen years of age, had been suffering from fits and spasms for three or four days, caused by a fright. She was so violent that it took several persons to hold her. Her parents, who are not members of the Church, sent for us. Brother David George, David P. Jones, James Walters and myself went to the house. We found the girl in a very bad condition. We knelt down and asked the Lord to bless us in administering the ordinance of the Gospel to the afflicted. We then laid hands upon her, rebuked the destroyer, and blessed her in the name of Jesus Christ. We then took her by the hands and mentally prayed to the Lord to bless us and the sufferer; and in a little while she became easier. We left her, and she slept well that night. Next morning, Brother James Walters, with whom I had stopped, accompanied me to see how the sick girl was. We found her sitting by the fire, and she looked as though nothing had been the matter with her. Then the girl said, “Mother, please help me to dress, that I may come and see them.” So the mother went to her daughter, and in a few minutes the girl came bounding out, one of the happiest mortals I ever saw. She is now perfectly well, and attends to her work as usual. The parents are very thankful for the blessing, and are investigating the Gospel.'”
