Sister Lucy Roe, first counselor in the Y.L.M.I.A. at Snowville, had suffered for over two months from a complication of illnesses, including rheumatism and neuralgia. Despite medical treatment, her condition worsened. The Bishop was summoned, and upon blessing and anointing her with oil, she immediately rose from her bed, declared her pain had ceased, and was able to move without pain. The account notes a feeling of the Spirit of God filling the room.
In Their Own Words
“Sister Lucy Roe, first counselor in Y. L. M.I. A., at Snowville, had been a great sufferer from a complication of illnesses, rheumatism and neuralgia, etc. She had lain in a helpless condition for over two months, all being done for her that could be, when it seemed in spite of all medical treatment, she was gradually getting worse and felt to give up. So the bishop was sent for, and when he came he took the oil and anointed her and blessed her, and immediately she raised in her bed and declared that all pain had ceased and that she was able to move without pain. — The Young Woman's Journal 3:6”
